THE MATTE EFFECT - While the Autumn/Winter 2013 runways were shining bright with stars and spotlights, the nails were all about the matte effect. Matte nails are a huge trend for the season - gracing the catwalks at Badgley Mischka, ICB by Prabal Gurung, BCBG Max Azria, Cynthia Rowley, Kaelen, Rebecca Taylor and Karen Walker to name a few. The key to the perfect matte finish is the perfect matte top coat. P10 recommends Butter London's Matte Finish Top Coat; OPI's Matte Nail Envy and Up; and Deborah Lippmann's Flat Top Matte Maker Top Coat.
THE MODERN FRENCH - French manicures with a twist are making a comeback for Autumn/Winter 2013. Maura Hoffman, Nicholas K, Titania Inglis, Louise Grey and Rodarte all had their own french manicure inspired designs. Rodarte's was especially chic and wearable for everyday. The other plus is its an affordable look! All the shades are from an exclusive collection by Sally Hansen for Rodarte - available this September.
BLACK IS BACK - Black nails were all the rage on the Autumn/Winter 2013 runways. From Monique Lhuillier to Nonoo and Ruffian, black is back! Cushnie et Ochs used one of P10's fav black shades, Essie's Licorice, to get the perfect dark look.
CRAZY COOL - During Fashion Week there are always designers that take nails to the next level. We found Whit's black and gold design, Rebecca Mincoff's marble effect, Suno's 24k gold flakes, and Libertine's bedazzled creations especially cool! How to get the look: Whit went with a basic black shade and added Kiss Nail Dress in Teddy for the gold swirl designs. Rebecca Mincoff's "marble mani" was a unique creation by the Essie team - click HERE for a step-by-step to DIY. Suno chose Rococo's Gold Leaf nail varnish to get the gilded effect down to perfection. Libertine used Butter London in Marbs - available Summer 2013 - accented with crystals.
